![]() Ralph William Elliot, Graduation picture from Massachusetts Agricultural College (now University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He was husband of Doris Parker Winter. They were married in 1923 Mansfield, July 12—Miss Doris Parker Winter, daughter of Mr and Mrs. William L. Winter, was united in marriage to Ralph William Elliot son, of Mr. and Mrs Edmund H. Elliot, of Chartley, yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock, at the home of the bride's parents, 135 Chureh St. The double ring service was used, the ceremony being performed by the Rev Ralph F. Palmer. of the Gordon Colege of Theology and Missions of Boston, and a former pastor of the First Baptist church. The ceremony was witnessed by a large number of relatives and a few intimate friends of the families. It was a pretty home wedding and the home was beautifully decorated for the occasion, by the bride’s aunt, Miss Hattie Winter. Thé couple was married beneath an arch made of Dorothy Perkins’ roses and hydrangea. Ferns and palms were also used in the: decorations. Mrs. Webster D. Tibbetts, of Brockton, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, Miss Alice M. Elliot, sister of the bridegroom of Chartley and Miss Anne B. Winter, cousin of the bride, of Mansfield, were the bridesmaids. Little Betty Patten, niece of the bridegroom, of Sterling, was the flower girl. John P. Elliot of Chartey, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The ushers were: Arthur T. Sturdy, Harry P. Sturdy and Louis A. Sturdy all of Chartley, and uncles of the bridegroom, and Charles W. Patten, brother-in-law of the bridegroom of Sterling. The bride was, given in marriage by her father, and the wedding march from “Lohengrin” was played by Mrs. Charles Patten of Sterling sister of the bridegroom. The bride was gowned in white canton crepe with crystal beads and embroidery, and wore a tulle veil, caught with orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of bridal roses and lilies of the valley. The matron of honor wore green organdie and carried pink carnations, and the bridesmaids wore pink organdie and carried pink sweet peas. Following the ceremony a reception was held, guests being present from New York City, Providence, Attleboro, Taunton, Brookline, Marshfield, North Attleboro, Winthrop, Plymouth, Chartley, Sterling and} Mansfield. Those who assisted in serving were: Mrs. Arthur C. Morey of Brookline, Miss. Hattie Winter of this town, aunts of the bride, Mrs. James S. Winter of Mansfield, and the Misses Elizabeth and Edith Winter of New York city, cousins of the bride, Miss Elizabeth Corr of East Greenwich, R. I., Miss Marion Barber and Miss Ruth Smith of Providence, the latter three being members of the bride’s fraternity at the Rhode Island State college. : The bride is a graduate of the Mansfield high school, class of 1918, and attended the Rhode Island State college for two years. She also took: a musical course at Boston university for one year. During the past two years, she has been a teacher in the Barrowsville public schools. She is a member of the First Baptist church of this town and has also been active in the church work, being a member of the choir and has been soloist many times. She is also a member of the Omicron Alpha Alpha fraternity of Rhode Island State college. The bridegroom is well-known in this town, being associated with the bride’s father, in business. He is a graduate of the Norton high school, class of 1913, and.of the Massachusetts Agricultural college, 1917. He is a memebr of the Kappa Epsilon fraternity of the college. He is also a member of the Ezekiel Bates lodge A. F. and A. M. of Attleboro. During the world war, he was drafted from college and sent to Camp Devens, for a year. He was attached to Headquarters company of the 302 regiment. His company was in France over a year. Mr. and Mrs Elliot, left following the reception, on an extended camping automobile trip to Niagara Falls, N. Y. Upon their return they will reside with the bride’s parents on Church St. until their new home off North Main St is completed. The couple received many beautiful and useful gifts. Note. W. C. and W. L. Winter were in the coal and ice business in Mansfield. |
