DorisBrownScrapbook1948To1951023 Murray George built a house described in his obituary. This does not appear to be that house:
A man who made a practice of doing ditficult tasks died in the adobe bouse he built by hand.
Murray W. George. 57, of Ralston. a landscape architect with the National Park Service
for 21 years. apparently suffered a heart attack.
George, a native of Massachusetts, moved to Ralston in 1949 and began building an eight-room Spanish style house with two baths and two fireplaces.
To keep the adobe bricks from washing away in the rain. he added an asphalt mixture.
In 1963, a 40-ft tree was causing to much shade on part of the lawn. George
moved the tree, roots and all, 40 ft away so the shade could land on the house.
In his job, he designed the park around the St. Louis Arch as well as many parts of other
national parks.
Funeral services will be at p.m. Sunday at Kaiser Mortuary in Papillion.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Nebraska Heart Fund.
Besides his wife, Rudi, he is survived by a son Murray Jr. Sioux City. Iowa and mother. Mrs. Elsie George of Wrentham, Mess.
